In Addition to Everything Else, Donald Trump is a TERRIBLE Critic

Episcopal bishop Marian Edgar Budde made headlines when, during a Service of Prayer for the Nation, she directly addressed President Trump (Jesus, it hurts to write those words) and implored, “In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and independent families—some who fear for their lives.

They may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors. They are faithful members of our churches, mosques, and synagogues.

I ask you to have mercy, Mr. President, on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away and that you help those who are fleeing war zones and persecution in their own lands to find compassion and welcome here. Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger.”

Trump’s response was intense and swift. He took to Truth Social, the social media website he owns as a profitable grift, to say how moved he was by Budde’s words. He wrote that Budde was a good person who shared his faith in Christ and eagerness to serve humanity.

The president closed by arguing that while he might disagree with the bishop on issues like LGTBQ rights and immigration, they are united in their fierce faith and love of country and that he very much appreciates the Bishop’s heartfelt plea. He conceded that it’s easy to lose sight of the humanity of the vulnerable and powerless but that he would try to be a better, more humble, and compassionate Christian going forward.

Just kidding! Trump is incapable of self-reflection. He’s immune to soul-searching because he does not have a soul. Appeals to goodness and decency are doomed to fail when directed at someone devoid of those virtues.

Trump isn’t keen on introspection or reflection. He responded with the antithesis of grace or humility.

The man-baby got big mad and took to Truth Social to seethe, “The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical hard-line Trump hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone and not compelling or smart. She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our Country and killed people. Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions. It is a giant crime wave that is taking place in the USA. Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology.”

This brings me to the point of this blog post: on top of everything, Donald Trump is a terrible critic. He can dish it out, but he cannot take it. As a critic of religious oratory and late-night comedy, he is guilty of everything he accuses Bishop Budde of being.

Let’s break down Trump’s critique. We start with the president calling Budde a “so-called” Bishop. He begins by casting doubt on the legitimacy of her title. Can someone who asks Trump to think about the powerless, vulnerable, and scared really be considered an actual Bishop or even a Christian? What kind of Christian asks the powerful to show mercy and grace to the powerless? Only a secret Satanist, of course.

Trump’s criticisms are then, in order,

  • Budde is a radical hard line Trump hater

  • Ungraciousness

  • Nastiness

  • Not compelling

  • Not smart

  • Asked for Trump to show kindness and empathy to undocumented migrants instead of parroting GOP talking points about dirty foreigners murdering everyone and being responsible for all of our problems

  • Inappropriate comments

  • Boring

  • Uninspiring

  • Not very good at her job

For Trump and his cultists, if someone criticizes Trump in any way, then they are, by definition, a bad person who hates America, are insane, and can be reflexively dismissed and ignored due to their bizarre, unforgivable conviction that God did not explicitly choose Donald Trump to save the country.

The inverse is that if someone DOES support Trump, then they are, by default, a deeply moral Christian patriot who loves their country and is willing to stand up to the Woke mob. If Charles Manson had endorsed Trump, he would have pardoned him on the basis that he never directly killed anyone and was unfairly targeted because he was a patriot and a Trump supporter by the same deranged, vengeance-crazed government that held Trump legally liable for all of his crimes.

Budde tried to reach Trump on a spiritual level. Instead, he threw a temper tantrum on social media that amounted to a nasty, poorly written Yelp review.

It should be noted that Trump’s post was not gracious. It was not compelling. It was not smart. Trump famously communicates at the first-grade level. That, alarmingly, helps him with voters who enjoy being treated like the gullible idiots they are. His post was inappropriate. It was boring. It was uninspiring. It’s the work of someone who is not good at their job and should apologize.

Budde is at least in good company. The most powerful man in the world somehow found time in his busy schedule to watch a late-night talk show he hates hosted by someone he despises and considers an idiot and enemy.

On January 14th, the big baby in the White House ranted, “How bad is Seth Myers on NBC, a “network” run by a truly bad group of people-Remember, they also run MSDNC. I got stuck watching Marble Mouth Meyers the other night, the first time in months, and every time I watch this moron, I feel an obligation to say how dumb and untalented he is, merely a slot filler for the Scum that runs Comcast. These guys should be paying a lot of money for the right to give these “in kind” contributions to the Radical Left Democrat Party. These are not shows or entertainment, they are simply political hits, 100% of the time, to me and the Republican Party. Comcast should pay a BIG price for this.”

It’s typical Trump bluster. He thinks that he’s slam-dunking on Myers in a way that will destroy him and his credibility when the best he can muster is to call Myers a moron, dumb, and untalented and grouse that the government needs to investigate Myers and NBC for the unforgivable crime of hurting his feelings by making jokes about him.

Jay Sherman, Trump is not!

Donald Trump is the most powerful man in the world, yet he inexplicably does not have the power to avoid watching entertainment he hates. I wish Trump would explain how he got “stuck” watching Myers. Was Trump in a barbershop where the show was being played on television, and when Trump politely asked to change the channel, his barber said, “No?”

If I don’t like a show, I NEVER WATCH IT. It’s VERY easy to not watch things you hate. That way, I avoid seeing things that I hate. That’s not Trump, however. He works overtime to create the fiction that when he’s not running the world’s wonderful business and being the greatest president of the United States EVER, he somehow finds the time to regularly check in on The View, Saturday Night Live, and Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Seth Myers’ talk shows so he can confidently assert that they’re all unfunny shows that are biased against him and in love with the Democratic Party.

Donald Trump hates Saturday Night Live so much he hosted it twice.

Trump takes hate-watching seriously. He seems to see it as an important part of his job. This might seem petty, pointless, and unbelievably juvenile, but remember, Trump says he feels an “obligation” to share with the world that he saw someone make fun of him on TV and had to tell his Truth Social followers how dumb and untalented it was.

Trump had to listen to that monster ask him to show kindness and love. Bishop Budde had a captive audience in Trump. He was in the building. That’s not true of Myers. He never has to watch him again, yet he still felt the need to share his review of his show. It’s not necessarily something Trump wants to do. It’s what he feels he MUST do. That’s what Trump does: he watches TV compulsively and gets mad. That’s not going to change now that he’s president yet again, but there is a horrifying possibility that his crazed whims will be seen as action items for the new administration.

If NBC handled Trump’s criticism the way Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook did, they would “concede” that they had a left-wing bias and were unfair toward the president in the past. They’d apologize, promise to change, and hire Greg Gutfield as a new late-night host. They’d bend the knee, kiss the ring, and forget about a shameful past in which it held Trump responsible for his transgressions rather than cheer his every move.

Hopefully, that won’t happen. NBC has nothing to apologize for. Neither does Bishop Brudde, but that won’t keep Trump from angrily demanding them and doling out atrocious mini-reviews for everyone who displeases him.
